10 Things every women needs in her closet

I was watching Oprah a week or so ago and some stylist or something made this list of what we all need in our closet. The classics. Things that can go with everything (like the trends and mix and match). Bec asked me to post this list since I was telling her about it. I don't have everything on the list so I thought as I go shopping this year I'm going to look out and hopefully buy the ones I don't. So here is the list I wrote. Maybe on Oprah's website you could get the real list but I'm sure this is accurate. I recorded the show so I was able to pause and rewind so I could make sure I got everything right.

10 things every women needs:

1. Trench coat (I believe they said belted - I don't have but am looking for one in my price range)
2. black or white turtleneck (don't have either)
3. black pants with fuller legs to balance hips (I just bought some that fit- I got a great pair on clearance at Anne Taylor loft for $19.88 reg. $89. I had some I liked but sadly don't fit since having Mia)
4. Tunic (they showed a white one and I don't have one)
5. white jeans (I was shocked by this one - I'm not sure I'll get until my kids are out of their messy years)
6. dark jeans (I have lots of these- they recommended washing inside out to keep the color dark longer)
7. black dress (got this one coverd)
8. white denim jacket or a really dark, dark denim (again I was a bit surprised b/c I thought these were kind of out but they showed a few looks and they really did go with everything)
9. black skirt (I have one I really like but I'd also like more of a black pencil skirt - again I have one in a size too small)
10. timeless cashmere sweater (don't have this either - but would be nice if I could find one that didn't cost over $100)

They also said something about the trends and said everyone should have an oversize white handbag (I looked for one at TJ Maxx and Marshalls but still haven't found the perfect one - I ended up with a fun oversized black one though) and fun flats (like Leopard or colors)

So that is the list. I am going to try to break out of my Tshirt and jeans onsemble I wear most everyday and get something with a bit more style. I can see things I like but don't feel like they always fit into my lifestyle of stay at home Mom and farmers wife!! Sundays are about the only day I feel really stylish. I have some cute dresses and nice high heels (my primary class of girls love all my shoes).

I got to get back to my house. I have been painting. When I get my house put back together I'll post pictures of my handy work.

The Happy Couple!!

Here is just one of those rare pictures taken when Cameron is really smiling! I think he looks cute. The photographer took this at the wedding. We were really having a good time (and a great weekend minus the extra time in the airport). Cameron loves to laugh but rarely shows that side of him in pictures. I'm glad we got one of him like this. I could have used a smaller smile and more lipstick but oh well!

Brothers Wedding

My brother, Ryan finally got married on Saturday to Tatiana Herrera. Cameron and I flew down to San Jose, California for the ceremony. It was a quick trip - down friday and back Sunday. So we didn't get to do much. The weather was the worst of the month and poured rain most of the day. I was really hoping for a sunny California day. But the hills looked beautiful with the green. I really wanted a picture of an oak tree on the hill by my old house but with the pouring rain I never ventured out to take it. I have always wanted a picture of an oak to remind me of growing up in California. Most people think palm trees when they think of California. But for me growing up in San Jose it was mostly oaks. All the palm trees there are not natural to the landscape. Anyways, back to the trip. Cameron and I got there Friday afternoon and checked into our hotel after picking up our rental car, a black Dodge Charger. It was weird driving a car after always being in his pickup or my Expedition. We went out to my sister, Michelles, house in Pleasanton since we have never seen it. We went to lunch at Fuddruckers, a little shopping and the movie, "Jumper." (just the 2 of us). Saturday we had to do more shopping since one of us failed to remembered to bring Cameron a white shirt to wear to the wedding. I got myself a new handbag. The wedding was great. Ryan met Tatiana while surfing in El Salvador 3 or so years ago. After not finding anyone that compared to her in the US he finally decided to settle down with her. She seems very nice and Ryan looks very happy but she doesn't speak much english so I still feel like I don't really know her. But she picked a great dress and even made the beautiful sleeves herself. You can't tell but she added a lot of beading to the sleeves to match the rest of the dress and it looks perfect. After the wedding ceremony we ate good food and it was fun to talk with family and old friends. I wish my kids could have been there to see their cousins but I'm glad we didn't bring them. Sunday our flight got delayed so we missed our connecting flight so we had to go from San Jose to Portland to Seattle where again our flight was delayed and so we didn't get home until 8:30pm. (5 hours later than expected) We could have almost driven all the way home in the amount of time it took us to fly with the layovers. But we made it. I don't think Cameron wants to walk anymore in the shoes he was wearing! But it was a good date weekend! Couples need that every once in a while. I highly recommend it!

Skiing

Cameron, Chelsea, Regan jumping, and me posing.

We had a great day skiing at Bluewood with the kids. Mia stayed with Erics family for the day. This is our 4th time on the slopes this year. Collin and Morgans 5th time going and Chelsea's 3rd. They have all improved so much and are very brave. Chelsea told me going up the lift that she feels like a bird when she goes fast down the hill. It was sooo cute. Morgan is daring and goes off the main run to do the little jumps and things at the sides. Chelsea has trouble turning and tries to just go straight all the way down. Cameron and I had to put her between our legs for some of the steep parts. That gives me quite a workout! But since we never did the bunny slope until once at the end of the day and we mostly did blue squares (intermediate runs) I think my kids are awesome!! We had a great day together. We brought Regan (cousin) along with us to snowboard with Collin. He has been more than Collin so he is a good example for Collin to watch. I love skiing with my family. I can't wait until Mia is old enough so we can all go together. Cameron said that skiing made his week because it is so fun to watch the kids learning. The girls never complained and were just so fun to watch. They both shouted a few "Woo-hoos" skiing down which was funny. At the end of our good day Cameron and I had to deal with my broken dryer and ran to Sears to buy and new one. Too bad they didn't have the one in I needed to match the washer from last year so I have to wait until Wed. for it to be delivered. Boy, is our laundry piling up. We had a fun weekend other than that. Friday we went to Bonefish grill with Scott and Debbie for her birthday. Sunday evening we took Debbie over a cake and stayed to play at their house. Monday I went to lunch with my ward friends for Melanie's birthday and then after picking up the kids went to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate Mason's 3rd birthday with Kip and Gigi's family. The kids were so excited to go there but yuck I do not enjoy it. Now it's back to school and normal life again.

All about me

(I was tagged by Yasmine)

1. 10 years ago . . . I was pregnant with Collin! I was living in a single wide trailer in Mattawa and doing very little that is even noteworthy. I taught primary - I think the 8 turning 9 year old class (now I'm still in primary but teaching 10+11 year old girls)

2. 5 things on my "to do" list . . . make a good valentines dinner, paint my room, collin's room and the hallways, print off all the pictures I've neglected for the past 4 years, clean off my desk, read the Book of Mormon all the way through this year.

3. snacks I enjoy . . . is ice cream a snack? also tortilla chips and mango salsa, carmel popcorn (when debbie makes it best), a handful of chocolate chips or 2(again is that a snack?), Crispix cereal witha banana. if snacks really are desserts I love chocoate chip oatmeal cookies and brownies (from the mix you buy at costco)

4. Bad habits. . . cam said I couldn't post it, probably sticking my foot in my mouth - saying to much, maybe being too honest or opinionated at times, watching too much TV

5. if I suddenly became a billionare . . . I would buy Cameron a farm because he couldn't live without working and then take lots of trips. Probaby start by taking my whole family to the Caribbean. Then maybe Hawaii, Guam so Cameron could visit his old mission. And of course do lots of shopping. Oh and build my dream home and furnish it with no cares about cost!!

6. Places I've live . . . 2 houses in San Jose, California, 4 apartments in Rexburg, Idaho, with my in-laws for a few months and then in a single wide trailer in Mattawa, Washington until our current home in West Richland. We're working on house plans and may one day move back to the farm now in Othello.

7. Jobs I've had . . . clerk/pharmacy tech (sort of) at Country Club Pharmacy, various temp jobs(I signed up with a temp agency both summers I was home from college) and usually was a receptionist or admin assistant of some sort. Mostly I was loved by the companies and stayed with them most of the summer. After getting married I've never had a job other than wife and mother. Boy am I spoiled.

8. Things people don't know about me . . . I am not sure what you guys wouldn't know. I'm pretty open I think. I've lost 4 pounds since joining the gym but am still not a size smaller yet! Oh . . . maybe a few of you don't know I taught a semester of dance aerobics at Ricks but did not enjoy it. I like the semester before when I was just an assistant and just had to follow the leader along up in front. Not plan out the routine and keep up the pace.

Now I tag Tammy Bybee and Barbara Calaway

Bath & Body Works - Patricia Wexler M.D. Dermatology: Acnescription Collection: Anti-Acne Starter Kit

Bath & Body Works - Patricia Wexler M.D. Dermatology: Acnescription Collection: Anti-Acne Starter Kit

So if you haven't noticed I have always had acne, breakouts, too many zits for a 30+ old woman. I am not cured or anything but for the past 2 weeks I've been using this stuff I got at Bath & Body works and I love it!!! My face has less zits, it's smoother and softer and it appears that my pores are smaller (less blackheads). So I thought I'd pass this along if any of you have my same delimma. I tried the Acne Free from Costco that is supposed to be like Proactive and it dried out my skin too much. I have yet to have dry patches with this stuff. I just went to the mall and purchased the whole set (I bought the starter kit first) and it's a bit spendy but cheaper than if I had gone to the dermotologist and got stuff from them. Hopefully it continues to work but I've only had positive results so far. Do any of you have a favorite acne regiman?
